About

Lucy Wood

Six-Time World Stone Skimming Champion

Lucy Wood is the six-time Women’s World Stone Skimming Champion, having achieved her record-breaking number of wins between 2012 and 2025, along placing top 3 in ten of the last twelve years and an international win at the European Championships. She is officially recognised in the Guinness World Records.

She lives in Sheffield and London. In Sheffield, she often skims in the nearby Peak District, and in London she can be found skimming stones across the Thames.

She has featured widely across the media including print, radio, film and TV coverage. She has also presented at film festivals, having featured in the excellent documentary ‘Sink or Swim’ from Melt the Fly films, and has worked as a ‘professional stone skimmer’, where TV productions have needed someone to skim a stone well consistently.

She loves the sport, loves its connection with nature, and loves in particular that it’s open to anyone and everyone. Though she thoroughly loves it, she also recognises its niche nature – “It’s a really useless life skill, but I seem to have it.” – You can contact Lucy at tolucy@gmail.com
